Overview

The project is known as The Eye at Keppel Bay. Located on the site which once stood Keppel Harbour, it is full of history and meaning, and surrounded by waterfront facilities and a green urban park full of life.

Residents enjoy unobstructed views of the surroundings from their units and are pampered with communal areas filled with facilities within close proximity of every unit.

Concept

Keppel Harbour is a place of constant activity and movement throughout the day. Large and intimidating machinery and cargo filled the site at towering heights. The rigid operating system has displaced a warmth within a place of connections. A connection of land and sea. A connection of people around the world.

My concept dwells on that idea of connections, but to create one of intimate relations between the residents and the crafted spaces. Spacious double volumes attract residents to the communal areas, which contains facilities encouraging activities to take place.

The movement of residents to these spaces mimic the constant activity that happen at Keppel Harbour, however one that is not systematic or lifeless.

Interior Renders

The special features of the layout include an open dining area in every unit. Enclosed by sliding glass doors and timber screen folding doors, the dining area can be fully opened up or semi-private as desired.

With a timber deck floor, the space feels different from the tiled floors of the unit, encouraging residents to move to a new idea of alfresco dining, and being to connected to the outdoor spaces and neighbors alike.

Planter boxes lined on the perimeter of the double volume communal area encourage residents, old and young alike, to enjoy some urban farming, and plant their own vegetables.
